Shine the Brightest!

As the saying goes, “never judge a book by it’s cover”.
In every role I’ve held as leader, I’ve always endeavoured to find that shining star in every one of my team members; never concerned by gender, skin tone, age, religious beliefs or personal preferences, etc.

At times, finding that star within may mean that the constellation where the person will shine brightest, may not be where they are at that moment in time. 🌟
As leaders, it’s our mission to help each and every one navigate their journey to where they will shine the brightest!
I can categorically state that some of the brightest shining stars I’ve uncovered have been those “hidden in the basement” as they didn’t typically conform to “the look” - you all know exactly what I mean!

All they needed was someone to give them a chance and believe in them!

I was one of those “hidden in the basement” and continuously told as a child, that I would amount to nothing - including being told by a teacher during my 3rd year of high school, in front of a classroom full of final year students, that she wouldn’t even hire me as her gardner and I was an example of someone who would achieve nothing in life… Hey, this boy from the wrong side of the tracks from a small mining town in darkest Africa has done okay, me thinks! 😜

Thanks goes to Litsa Roussos who took a gamble on me - with only a high school diploma (how I managed that is a miracle in itself), no work experience, straight out of the military, a rebel without a clue! 🤘🎸🤘
